2020 is well and truly underway and what better way to raise our spirits after Blue Monday than with a whole host of new music? Rapper M Huncho has dropped new record Huncholini The 1st, Minneapolis synth-pop outfit Polica have teased another single in the form of Sea Without Blue and Sheffield rockers SHEAFS have confirmed their debut EP, Vox Pop, and preceding it with Total Vanity.
M Huncho – Huncholini The 1st
Enigmatic masked rapper M Huncho is causing waves in the UK rap scene right now and with good reason. Describing himself as a ‘trapper’, M Huncho combines drill, melodic vocals and cutting lyrics across 40 minutes. The path he is taking has been carved by himself and he is proving that there is a gap in the market for his hybrid of sounds.
Following on from last year’s Utopia, M Huncho teams up with Nafe Smallz, Headie One and D-Block Europe to create one of the early contenders for album of the year.

Wolf Parade – Thin Mind
Montreal indie-rockers Wolf Parade are back with their second record since their return from hiatus. Thin Mind is brimming with sharp guitar licks, crisp synths and a refreshing sense of direction. Described as “a record made with fresh ears and sharp minds” by XSNoize is perhaps the best way to refer to Thin Mind – although nearing 20 years as a band, there are evidently still plenty more themes and ideas that Wolf Parade want to dabble in.

JP Cooper – In These Arms
Singer-songwriter JP Cooper has released the first track from his latest project – In These Arms. Laced with ‘80s American pop, Cooper’s vocals echo brilliantly across three-and-a-half-minutes. Typically soulful with crunching, synth-doused drums – it is a magnificent, anthemic ballad that shows JP Cooper’s continuous ability to create instantly satisfying music that will be enjoyed by a plethora of audiences.

Polica – Sea Without Blue
The latest offering from Polica’s forthcoming LP, When We Stay Alive, comes in the form of Sea Without Blue. With delicate vocals and pulsating synths throughout, it is typically Polica and elegantly displays everything that the band have proudly worked on since their formation in 2011. If the singles are anything to go by, When We Stay Alive will be one of the records we look back at for years to come.

It comes from their debut EP, Vox Pop, and finally gives SHEAFS a platform to build on. One of the most exciting live bands of recent years, proven by an invitation to perform at Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival last year, 2020 will be monumental for the band.
